History
Christian Home Education Support Service, CHESS (formerly The Home Service), was founded in 1992 by a group of Christian parents involved in Christian home education in the UK. Its aim was to provide help and advice for those travelling the same road, or who were considering doing so.
As such its members have many shared values and shared beliefs, which reflect our common commitment to Christ.
Today, more than ever, it is important that we stand together, especially when our right and authority to control and direct our childrens’ learning seems under attack at every turn.
We must pray for each other, and for our politicians, that the freedom we enjoy be preserved for future generations.

CHESS is a network of over 400 home educating families in the UK.
Each family pays an annual subscription of £20 and receives a membership card and access to various Membership Benefits.
We provide a place where you can find others to link up with, ask advice from, and be encouraged in your home educating journey.
We offer opportunities to meet other like-minded families by running day conferences “Rock Solid“, bi-monthly Connect meetings and an annual member-only Holiday. In addition we produce our much loved Home Time Magazine 3-4 times a year. Download a Home Time sample here.
